PCB factory china:What is the difference between metal core PCB and ordinary PCB

The metal core PCB uses special substrate materials, and after special preparation, actively absorbs heat from the position of the hot running component to the relative layer of the board, which can improve the design reliability of the operation at higher than normal temperature, and thus can effectively and safely conduct heat dissipation.

What is the difference between metal core PCB and ordinary PCB

1. Conductivity common PCB uses FR4 substrate, which has a low thermal conductivity, usually about 0.3W; The thermal conductivity of metal core PCB is high, ranging from 1.0-4.0W, and about 2.0W is common.

2. Plated through-hole ordinary PCB usually uses plated through-hole, and through-hole components can be used if necessary; Plated through holes in metal core PCBs are not applicable to single-layer PCBs. All components are installed on the surface.

3. Heat transfer ordinary PCB heat dissipation usually involves through holes for heat transfer; The metal core PCB can ensure that the product can work above the normal temperature through its own heat dissipation function.

4. Solder resist The solder resist of common PCB is usually dark, such as green, red, blue and black, and is usually applied to the top and bottom; The metal core PCB solder mask is generally only applied to the top.

5. Thickness The common PCB has multiple thicknesses, and can use various material combinations and select different layers; The thickness of the metal core is limited by the thickness of the available backing plate and the thickness of the dielectric sheet.

6. Machining process The standard machining process used for ordinary PCB mainly includes drilling, milling, V-notch, countersunk hole and countersunk hole; Although the machining process of the metal core PCB is the same as that of the ordinary PCB, the diamond coated saw blade must be used for V notch to prevent the increase of strain due to cutting into the metal.
